Defect

The mounting bolts of the rear brake caliper were improperly torqued during assembly, leaving some bolts with insufficient clamping force. Continued use allows the bolts to loosen, producing abnormal noise during braking or when traversing a step or bump. In the worst case, the bolts may fall out entirely, reducing braking force.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the caliper mounting bolts and, if clamping torque is insufficient, replace the bolts with new ones and tighten to the specified torque value.
