Defect
On light trucks, the electric parking brake system control program is incorrect, causing the system to fail to accurately recognize the parking brake cable stroke when the electric parking brake is applied. Repeated application of the electric parking brake allows the cable to loosen and contact surrounding components, resulting in cable damage and brake lining wear. In the worst case, the cable may break, the electric parking brake warning light will illuminate, and a parked vehicle may roll away.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the electric parking brake control unit with the corrected/updated software. Inspect the parking brake cable; if damage is found, replace the cable with a new one. Measure brake lining wear; if wear is found, replace the lining with a new one.

状況
小型トラックにおいて、電動パーキングブレーキシステムの制御プログラムが不適切なため、電動パーキングブレーキ作動時に、パーキングブレーキケーブルのストローク量を正しく認識できないことがある。そのため、電動パーキングブレーキ作動操作の繰り返しによりケーブルが緩み、周辺部品と干渉することで、ケーブルの損傷やライニングの摩耗が生じ、最悪の場合、ケーブルが切断し、電動パーキングブレーキ警告灯が点灯するとともに、駐車中の車両が動き出すおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、電動パーキングブレーキコントロールユニットの制御プログラムを対策プログラムに修正する。また、パーキングブレーキケーブルを点検し、損傷が認められた場合には、ケーブルを新品に交換するとともに、ブレーキライニングの摩耗量を測定し、摩耗が認められた場合には、ライニングを新品に交換する。
