Defect
In the high-voltage battery of hybrid vehicles, inadequate manufacturing controls at the battery cell terminal caused the outer material to become submerged in the electrolyte inside the cell when the laminated materials were crimped together. Continued use allows the electrolyte to corrode the terminal until it fractures. When this occurs, the power system warning light illuminates, the fail-safe control activates, the hybrid system shuts down, and the vehicle becomes inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the high-voltage battery with a conforming unit.

状況
ハイブリッド車の高電圧バッテリにおいて、バッテリ内の電池セル端子部の製造管理が不適切なため、貼り合せた素材をかしめた際に外側の素材がセル内の電解液に浸漬しているものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、電解液により端子部が腐食し破断すると、パワーシステム警告灯が点灯するとともにフェールセーフが働き、ハイブリッドシステムが停止して、走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、高電圧バッテリを良品と交換する。
