Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Mitsubishi & Nissan.
The Computer (Control Device) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 4 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 41 Mitsubishi notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 2,949 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 months.
Defect
In the Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) brake system, the front radar ECU control program is incorrect. When the front camera overheats during parking in direct sunlight and temporarily shuts down the FCM, both the "FCM OFF" indicator lamp and the flashing "FCM active" indicator lamp extinguish within a few seconds. Because the "FCM OFF" indicator does not remain illuminated continuously, the vehicle does not conform to Safety Standards Article 12 (Brake System Requirements).
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the front radar ECU control program to the corrected specification.
