Defect

On vehicles where the urea solution tank has been relocated, the waterproofing treatment on the extension harness and connectors is inadequate, allowing rainwater to enter the connectors and corrode the terminals. If a continuity fault develops at the corroded terminals, communication between the after-treatment control module (ACM) mounted on the urea solution tank and the engine control module (ECM) is interrupted, causing the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to become inoperative and triggering a "Vehicle Electrical Control System Malfunction" warning message on the instrument cluster center display. Continued driving under this condition may cause nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in the exhaust to exceed the regulatory limit.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect each connector on the urea solution tank extension harness and install the waterproof plugs in the correct position. If corrosion is found inside a connector, replace the affected extension harness and the mating harness with new parts.

状況

尿素水タンクを移設した車両において、延長ハーネス及びコネクタの防水処理が不適切なため、コネクタ内に雨水等が浸入し端子部を腐食させることがある。そのため、接続端子部で導通不良が発生すると、尿素水タンクに装着された後処理制御モジュール(ACM)等とエンジン制御モジュール(ECM)間における通信が途絶え、排出ガス後処理装置(SCR)が不作動状態になると共に、インストルメントクラスタ中央ディスプレイに“車両電制システム異常”の警告メッセージが表示される。そのまま走行を続けると、排出ガス中の窒素酸化物(NOx)の排出値が基準値を超えるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、尿素水タンク延長ハーネスの各コネクタ部を点検し、防水プラグを適正位置に取付ける。なお、コネクタ内部に腐食がある場合には、当該延長ハーネスと接続側のハーネスを新品と交換する。
