Defect
In the high-voltage battery cable, the terminal surface treatment and the connector support spring load are improperly specified. When the underside of the vehicle contacts an obstacle while traversing a step or bump, the terminal may slide and wear. Continued use allows the terminal to oxidize, increasing electrical resistance and causing a continuity fault. This triggers a system warning lamp and may leave the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the high-voltage battery cable and the connector support spring with corrected parts.
