Defect
The EGR pressure sensor installed in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system lacks sufficient resistance to exhaust gases. Corrosion from exhaust gas causes abnormal sensor output, triggering a warning lamp and poor acceleration. In the worst case, the engine may fail to start.
Corrective action
Replace the EGR pressure sensor with a corrected part and reprogram the engine control unit on all vehicles.
