Filing in context
The Other (engine) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 19 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 17 Subaru notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 481 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 11 months.
Defect
The EGR pressure sensor installed in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system lacks sufficient resistance to exhaust gases. Corrosion from exhaust gas causes abnormal sensor output, triggering a warning lamp and poor acceleration. In the worst case, the engine may fail to start.
Corrective action
Replace the EGR pressure sensor with a corrected part and reprogram the engine control unit on all vehicles.
