Defect
On light trucks equipped with refrigeration units, the idle pulley fastening geometry is incorrect, causing belt tension to generate excessive stress on the idle pulley bolt, which may cause it to fracture. When this occurs, the belt detaches and the refrigeration unit stops operating. In the worst case, the pulley may fall onto the road surface while the vehicle is in motion.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the idle pulley bracket, pulley bolt, belt, and associated components as a set with the corrected/revised parts.
