Filing in context
The Cooling system is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 14 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 20 Isuzu notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 2,425 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 years and 5 months.
Defect
On refrigerated/frozen transport vehicles equipped with a thermal management (heating) unit, insufficient design verification resulted in inadequate clearance between the refrigeration unit piping and the rear face of the cab. As the vehicle ages, settling of the cab suspension and related components causes repeated contact between the refrigeration unit piping and the cab rear surface, leading to coolant leak. If operation continues in this condition, the vehicle's coolant level warning message and buzzer will activate.
Corrective action
Inspect the refrigeration unit piping on all vehicles and replace the bracket with a redesigned part. If a coolant leak is present, also replace the refrigeration unit piping.
