Filing in context
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 26 Isuzu notifications from 2022 in this archive. Defect
During recall campaign No. 5156 (filed June 2, 2022), incorrect instructions in the battery cable inspection and replacement work procedure caused non-specified retaining clips to be installed on the cable. Continued use allows engine vibration to abrade the cable insulation, exposing bare conductors and creating a short circuit. In the worst case, the engine may fail to start.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the retaining clips with the correct specified clips and install a new battery cable.
