Overview
| MLIT filing number | 1151530 |
|---|---|
| Type | Statutory Recall (government-mandated recall) |
| Date filed | May 26, 2022 |
| Manufacturer(s) | Subaru |
| Component | Exhaust Gas Reduction Device |
| Production period | October 21, 2020 — April 2022 |
| Vehicles affected | 52,841 units |
Defect
The EGR pressure sensor installed in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system has insufficient resistance to exhaust gas. Corrosion from exhaust gas causes the sensor to produce abnormal output, leading to a warning light illuminating and poor acceleration. In the worst case, the engine may fail to start.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the EGR pressure sensor with a corrected/revised part and reprogram the engine control unit with the corrected/updated software.
