Defect

In the electric brake booster, the rotation angle sensor magnet — an internal component — is assembled at an incorrect position on the motor shaft. This may cause the software to misread the brake pedal stroke value when the ignition is turned on or under similar conditions. Consequently, the battery may drain, cruise control may fail to set while the brake lamp remains illuminated, or a warning light may illuminate and brake pedal effort may increase.

Corrective action

Verify the serial number of the electric brake booster unit on all vehicles. Replace any affected unit with a conforming part.
