Defect

The wiring harness connected to the auxiliary power module may be missing its protective cover on the underside of the vehicle due to incorrect assembly work instructions. Road debris and stones thrown up during driving can cause a broken wire in the harness, preventing the battery from charging. Continued operation will drain the lead battery and, in the worst case, cause an engine stall or prevent the vehicle from starting.

Corrective action

Inspect the harness on all vehicles. If damage is found, replace the harness with a new unit and install the harness protective cover. If no damage is found, install the harness protective cover.
