Defect

On steel disc wheels fitted to heavy-duty trucks, an improper rim-forming die causes the mating surface between the rim and disc at the weld joint to be non-uniform, resulting in insufficient fatigue strength at the weld. Extended use allows cracks to develop at the weld. In the worst case, the disc wheel may fracture.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, verify the production serial number of the disc wheel and, if the wheel falls within the affected range, replace it with a conforming unit.

状況

 大型トラックのスチール製ディスクホイールにおいて、リム成型の金型が不適切なため、リムとディスクの溶接合わせ面が不均一となり、溶接部の疲労強度が不足しているものがある。そのため、長時間使用すると溶接部に亀裂が入り、最悪の場合、ディスクホイールが破損するおそれがある。

改善措置

 全車両、ディスクホイールの製造番号を確認し、該当する場合は良品と交換する。
