Defect

On heavy-duty trucks, the vehicle speed sensor was designed without sufficient consideration for internal thermal expansion. At high temperatures, internal components interfere with one another, applying excessive force to the element solder joints. This causes cracks in the solder joints, resulting in poor electrical continuity. As a result, a warning light illuminates and the automatic transmission and speedometer may malfunction.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the vehicle speed sensor with a corrected part.
