Defect
On medium-duty trucks, improper welding of the ball joint connection on the drag link has resulted in weld positions that deviate from specification. Continued use in this condition can cause the weld at the ball joint connection to detach and the ball joint to separate, resulting in loss of steering control.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the drag link with a conforming part.
