Defect
In the engines used in heavy-duty trucks, insufficient strength of the piston combustion chamber allows piston temperatures to rise excessively during high-load operation or DPD (diesel particulate device) regeneration, subjecting the piston to excessive stress and causing cracking. Continued use allows the crack to propagate and perforate the combustion chamber. In the worst case, the resulting loss of engine output and emission of white smoke may render the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the engine is replaced with a corrected part.

状況
大型トラック用エンジンにおいて、ピストン燃焼室の強度が不足しているため、高負荷走行時やＤＰＤ（粒子状物質除去装置）再生時にピストンの温度が高くなり、過大な負荷がかかることで亀裂が生じるものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、ピストン燃焼室の亀裂が進行して穴が開き、最悪の場合、エンジンの出力低下及び白煙排出により、走行不能に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エンジンを対策品に交換する。
