| Type | Statutory Recall (government-mandated recall) |
| Date filed | October 5, 2017 |
| Manufacturer(s) | Isuzu |
| Component | Engine Control Computer |
| Production period | July 18, 2017 — August 30, 2017 |
| Vehicles affected | 23 units |
Defect
On large buses, the engine control unit software is incorrectly programmed, causing carbon monoxide emissions during acceleration to exceed the Safety Standards limit. Black smoke output may also increase, leading to particulate matter (PM) clogging the diesel particulate removal device (DPR) and illuminating the engine warning light. In the worst case, the DPR may be damaged.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control unit software and inspect the DPR. If the DPR is found to be damaged, replace it with a new unit.
