Defect

On large hybrid route buses, the hybrid control program is improperly designed, causing inadequate lubrication of the supply pump sliding surfaces at engine start due to foreign matter in the fuel. This leads to accelerated wear of the sliding surfaces. Continued operation may cause the pump to fail, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the hybrid ECU, supply pump, fuel pre-filter, and fuel lines with corrected/revised parts.
