Filing in context
The Computer (Powertrain) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 15 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 24 Suzuki notifications from 2015 in this archive. For scale, 2,058 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 months.
Defect
The controller for the automated mechanical transmission contains an incorrect control program. When the vehicle is on a downhill grade with the engine stopped via the idling stop function and the driver shifts from D range to R range, the automatic brake system that assists re-departure after an idling stop cannot be released. As a result, the brakes remain applied and the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the automated mechanical transmission controller with the corrected/updated software.
