Defect
In the electric power steering gear, the terminal crimping method used to connect the torque sensor—which detects steering force—to the electrical wiring is improper, and may cause a continuity failure. This will illuminate the warning light and disable the power steering assist function, increasing the steering effort required to operate the vehicle.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the electric power steering gear will be replaced with a conforming unit.

状況
電動パワーステアリングギヤにおいて、操舵力を検出するトルクセンサーと電気配線の接続部の端子かしめ方法が不適切なため、導通不良が発生するものがある。そのため、警告灯が点灯してパワーステアリングのアシスト機能が停止し、ステアリングの操作力が増大するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、電動パワーステアリングギヤを良品に交換する。
