Defect
On ignition switches, the grease used on the contact points is inappropriate. Arc discharge heat generated when the moving contact separates from the fixed contact carbonizes the grease. Continued use allows the carbonized grease to reduce insulation and metal particles from moving contact wear to accumulate between the contacts, creating electrical continuity. This generates heat, causing the grease to produce smoke and, in the worst case, resulting in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the ignition switch with a corrected part. Because preparation of corrected parts will take time, owners will be notified of the defect as an immediate precautionary measure, and will be contacted again once parts are available.

状況
イグニッションスイッチにおいて、接点部に使用するグリスが不適切なため、可動接点が固定接点から離れる際のアーク放電の熱によりグリスが炭化することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、グリスの絶縁性の低下と可動接点の摩耗による金属粉の堆積により接点間が導通し、発熱することでグリスが発煙し、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、イグニッションスイッチを対策品に交換する。なお、改善措置用部品の準備に時間を要することから、使用者に不具合の内容を通知して注意喚起を行い、準備が整い次第、再度入庫の通知をする。
