Defect

During manufacturing of the driver-side SRS airbag inflator, moisture control following propellant filling was improper. As a result, the propellant absorbs ambient moisture during service, causing it to expand and lose density. During airbag deployment, this condition causes abnormal pressure buildup inside the inflator. The inflator housing may rupture and scatter fragments, potentially injuring vehicle occupants.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the driver-side SRS airbag inflator with a corrected part.

状況

運転者席側SRSエアバッグのインフレータ(膨張装置)において、インフレータ製造時におけるガス発生剤充填後の吸湿管理が不適切なため、使用過程での外気温等の影響によりガス発生剤が膨張し、密度が低下するものがある。そのため、エアバッグ展開時にインフレータ内圧が異常上昇し、インフレータ容器が破損して飛び散り、乗員が負傷するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、運転者席側SRSエアバッグのインフレータを対策品と交換する。
