Defect
During end-of-life vehicle dismantling operations performed by another manufacturer, an inflator canister on a passenger-side airbag inflator ruptured. Although the root cause has not been determined, inflators of the same model year and type may rupture during airbag deployment, causing fragments to scatter. This could result in a vehicle fire or occupant injury. As a precautionary measure, the inflator will be replaced on all vehicles.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, as a precautionary measure, replace the passenger-side airbag inflator with a conforming unit and collect the removed inflator for defect cause investigation. If replacement parts are unavailable, as an interim measure, disable the passenger-side airbag function and display a warning label on the passenger-side sun visor indicating that the airbag is inoperative.

状況
助手席側エアバッグのインフレータ(膨張装置)において、他社製の車両解体作業時にインフレータ容器の破損が発生した。このため、原因は判明していないが、同年式で同タイプのインフレータはエアバッグ展開時にインフレータ容器が破損して飛び散り、出火したり乗員が負傷するおそれがあることから、全車両、予防的措置として、当該インフレータを良品と交換する。
改善措置
全車両、予防的措置として、助手席用エアバッグインフレータを良品と交換、回収して不具合原因調査を実施する。なお、部品が供給できない場合には、暫定措置として助手席用エアバッグの機能を停止するとともに、助手席サンバイザ部に当該エアバッグが作動しない旨の警告を表示する。
