Defect
On truck fuel tanks, the fuel tank band was tightened with excessive torque, applying an abnormal load to the spot welds of the internal baffle plate — the partition that suppresses fuel surge. Vibration during vehicle operation causes cracks to develop at the affected weld joints. Continued use in this condition may, in the worst case, result in a fuel leak.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel tank band with an improved part, install a new nut and add a washer, and re-torque using the corrected tightening procedure. In addition, inspect the baffle plate weld joints; if cracks are found at any spot weld, replace the fuel tank with a new unit.

状況
トラックの燃料タンクにおいて、燃料タンクバンドを過大な締付けトルクで固定したため、当該タンク内部のバッフル板（燃料液面の揺動を抑止する仕切板）のスポット溶接部に過大な力が加わっているものがある。そのため、車両走行時の振動により、当該溶接部に亀裂が入り、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、燃料が漏れるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、燃料タンクバンドを改善品に交換するとともに、ナットを新品にし、ワッシャを追加し、対策の締付け方法にて締付ける。また、燃料タンクのバッフル板溶接部を点検し、スポット溶接部に亀裂が生じているものは、燃料タンクを新品に交換する。
