Defect
On certain light trucks, the fuel tank band was tightened at excessive torque during assembly, applying abnormal stress to the spot welds of the internal baffle plate—the partition that dampens fuel sloshing. Vibration during vehicle operation causes cracks to develop at those weld points. Continued use may result in a fuel leak in the worst case.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel tank band and nut with new components, add a washer, and re-torque the band using the revised tightening procedure. Inspect the fuel tank baffle plate weld points; replace any tank exhibiting cracks at the spot welds with a new unit.

状況
小型トラックの燃料タンクにおいて、燃料タンクバンドを過大な締付けトルクで固定したため、当該タンク内部のバッフル板（燃料液面の揺動を抑止する仕切板）のスポット溶接部に過大な力が加わっているものがある。そのため、車両走行時の振動により、当該溶接部に亀裂が入り、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、燃料が漏れるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、燃料タンクバンド及びナットを新品に交換するとともに、ワッシャを追加し、対策の締付け方法で、当該バンドを締付ける。また、燃料タンクのバッフル板溶接部を点検し、スポット溶接部に亀裂が生じているものは、燃料タンクを新品に交換する。
