Defect
In the hybrid system, a software defect causes unexpected thermal stress to be applied to components in the voltage boost circuit during high-load driving such as acceleration. Over time, this stress damages the affected component, illuminating the warning light and causing the system to revert to fail-safe motor-only drive. If electrical noise is generated at the moment of component failure, the hybrid system shuts down entirely and the vehicle becomes inoperable.
Corrective action
Reprogram the control software to the corrected specification on all vehicles. If the warning light illuminates due to component damage after the software update, replace the power converter (DC-AC inverter) module at no charge.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 1 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
| Type code (型式) | Model | Chassis ranges |
|---|---|---|
| DAA-ZVW30 | PRIUS | ZVW30-1000000 — ZVW30-1795341; ZVW30-5000004 — ZVW30-5740951; ZVW30-0052877 — ZVW30-0333134 |
