Defect
A manufacturing process defect in a component within the microcomputer power-supply voltage monitoring circuit of the electric power steering control unit (EPS ECU) causes the component to exhibit abnormal characteristics. This causes the voltage monitoring circuit to malfunction, displaying a "Power Steering System Inspection" message on the information screen and deactivating the EPS assist function. As a result, steering effort increases.
Corrective action
Replace the EPS ECU on all vehicles with a corrected part.

状況
電動パワーステアリングコントロールユニット（ＥＰＳ ＥＣＵ）内部のマイコン電源電圧を監視する回路の素子の製造工程が不適切なため、素子が特性不良となったものがある。そのため、電源電圧監視回路が誤作動し、インフォメーション画面に「パワーステアリングシステム点検」を表示するとともに、ＥＰＳのアシスト機能が停止し、ハンドルの操舵力が増大するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ＥＰＳ ＥＣＵを対策品に交換する。
