Defect
On wing body vehicles equipped with steel under-lock rear door handles, the engagement overlap between the catch and keeper is insufficient. When the vehicle is operated with the rear door handle closed but not locked, cargo bed torsion and other forces during driving may cause the catch to move in the opening direction. In the worst case, the rear door handle lock may release and the rear door may open while driving.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, confirm the rear door handle specification. On vehicles equipped with steel rear door handles, inspect the engagement overlap between the catch and keeper. If the overlap is at or below the specified value, inspect the catch tip for wear. (1) If wear is found on the catch tip, replace the handle assembly and keeper, then reinstall so that the engagement overlap meets the specified value. (2) If no wear is found on the catch tip, adjust the engagement overlap to meet the specified value. In addition, notify owners to lock the rear door handle after closing it, and inspect the caution plate. If the plate does not include a reminder to lock the door handle, replace it with one bearing the instruction: "Fully close and lock the door handle."

状況
ウイングボデーのスチール製アンダーロック式リヤドアハンドル仕様車において、リヤドアハンドルのキャッチ部とキーパー部の掛かり代が不足しているものがある。そのため、リヤドアハンドルを閉めた後に施錠がされていない状態で走行した場合、走行中の荷台のねじれなどの影響によりキャッチ部が開く方向に動く場合があり、最悪の場合、リヤドアハンドルのロックが外れ、リヤドアが開くおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、リヤドアハンドルの仕様を確認し、スチール製のリヤドアハンドル仕様車はキャッチ部とキーパー部の掛かり代を点検する。 点検の結果、掛かり代が基準値以下の場合は、キャッチ部先端の磨耗状況を点検し、 ①キャッチ部先端に磨耗が見られる場合は、ハンドル部及びキーパー部を交換し、掛かり代が基準値を満たすように取り付ける。 ②キャッチ部先端に磨耗がない場合は、掛かり代を調整する。 また、使用者に、リヤドアハンドルを閉めた後に施錠を実施していただくことを周知するとともに、コーションプレートを確認し、ドアハンドルの施錠を促す記載がないものは、「ドアハンドルを確実に閉めて施錠の事」を記載したものに貼りかえる。
