This filing is one of 46 Mitsubishi notifications from 2012 in this archive. Defect
On the front brake hose assembly, the ABS wheel speed sensor wiring harness is improperly assembled, leaving insufficient clearance between the wiring and the front brake hose. Continued use in this condition allows the wiring to contact and wear through the hose. In the worst case, the front brake hose may be damaged, causing brake fluid to leak and reducing braking force.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the clearance between the front brake hose and the ABS wheel speed sensor wiring. If clearance is insufficient, correct the wiring routing and assembly. If sufficient clearance cannot be achieved after correction, replace the wiring with a new part and reassemble to provide proper clearance. If wear is found on the front brake hose, replace it with a new part.
