Defect
In the 4-speed automatic transmission, the internal lubrication passage within the transmission case is improperly designed, causing insufficient lubrication at the propeller shaft interface during high-speed operation (above 65 km/h). Continued use in this condition may cause the rear portion of the transmission to break down, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Additionally, on some models, the propeller shaft may detach, damaging the fuel tank and causing a fuel leak.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the extension housing and propeller shaft. (1) If neither shows abnormality, install a lubrication passage modification spacer inside the automatic transmission. (2) If either or both the extension housing and propeller shaft show abnormality, inspect the automatic transmission output shaft; if the output shaft also shows abnormality, replace the propeller shaft with a new unit and replace the automatic transmission with a corrected/revised part incorporating the modified lubrication passage. (3) If either or both the extension housing and propeller shaft show abnormality but the automatic transmission output shaft shows no abnormality, install the lubrication passage modification spacer inside the automatic transmission and replace the propeller shaft and extension housing with new units. Note: As parts supply for the remedy requires additional time, as an interim measure all owners are requested to refrain from high-speed operation (above 65 km/h) until the repair is completed.

状況
４速オートマチックトランスミッションにおいて、トランスミッションケース内部の潤滑油路が不適切なため、高速走行時（６５ｋｍ／ｈ超え）に、プロペラシャフトとの潤滑が不足となることがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、トランスミッション後端部が破損し、走行不能となるおそれがある。 また、一部の車種においては、プロペラシャフトが外れ、燃料タンクを損傷させ、燃料漏れとなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エクステンションハウジング及びプロペラシャフトを点検し、（１）いずれも異常が認められない場合は、オートマチックトランスミッション内に潤滑油路変更用スペーサーを追加する。 （２）エクステンションハウジング及びプロペラシャフトのいずれか、または両方に異常がある場合は、オートマチックトランスミッションのアウトプットシャフトを点検し、異常が認められる場合は、新品のプロペラシャフトおよび潤滑油路を変更した対策品オートマチックトランスミッションに交換する。 （３）エクステンションハウジング及びプロペラシャフトのいずれか、または両方に異常がある場合は、オートマチックトランスミッションのアウトプットシャフトを点検し、異常がない場合は、オートマチックトランスミッション内に潤滑油路変更用スペーサーを追加し、新品のプロペラシャフトおよび新品のエクステンションハウジングに交換する。 なお、改善措置用部品の供給に時間を要することから、当面の暫定措置として 全ての使用者に対し、高速走行（６５ｋｍ／ｈ超え）での使用停止を要請する。
