Defect
The axle housing on the rear-rear axle (non-drive axle) of rear-tandem heavy-duty trucks is improperly manufactured, causing cracks to develop in the weld zone. Continued use allows the cracks to progress. In the worst case, the axle housing may fracture, leading to brake overheating or contact between the tire and the frame, which may result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, verify the manufacturing number of the axle housing. On affected units, inspect the inner weld zone and replace the housing with a conforming part if any defect is found.

状況
後2軸大型トラックの後々軸(非駆動軸)アクスルハウジングの製造が不適切なため、当該溶接部に亀裂が発生するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、当該アクスルハウジングが折損し、ブレーキの過熱やタイヤとフレームの接触が生じて、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該アクスルハウジングの製造番号を確認し、該当するものは内側溶接部の点検を行い、不具合の認められるものは良品と交換する。
