Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Isuzu & Nissan.
The Computer (emissions/noise) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 4 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 34 Isuzu notifications from 2008 in this archive. For scale, 3,535 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 months.
Defect
The software that calculates particulate matter accumulation inside the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is incorrect. Under sustained high-load, low-engine-speed operation, the DPF automatic regeneration cycle—which burns off collected particulate matter—does not execute properly. Excessive particulate matter accumulates, causing engine malfunction and, in the worst case, engine stall with inability to restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the DPF control software. Additionally, inspect the particulate matter accumulation level inside the DPF; if accumulation exceeds the replacement threshold, replace the DPF assembly with a new unit.

This filing lists 7 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
