Defect

On vehicles equipped with an electronically controlled suspension, the front coil spring geometry is improper, allowing coil-to-coil contact to abrade the coating and expose the metal to corrosion. Continued use allows road salts and de-icing agents to accelerate the corrosion until the spring fractures. In the worst case, the tire may suffer a puncture and the vehicle may become inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the front coil spring or the complete strut assembly with a corrected part.

状況

電子制御式サスペンション装着車において、前輪用コイルスプリングの形状が不適切なため、当該スプリングが線間で擦れた部分の塗膜が剥れて腐食することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、融雪剤等により腐食が進行してスプリングが折損し、最悪の場合、タイヤがパンクして走行不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、前輪用コイルスプリングまたはストラット一式を対策品と交換する。
