Defect
On vehicles equipped with a regeneration-controlled Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), continued operation under light engine loads—such as low-speed driving or frequent engine stops—triggers prolonged automatic DPF regeneration cycles. During regeneration, diesel fuel injected into the engine mixes into the engine oil at a greater rate than anticipated. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the diesel-contaminated oil is drawn through the blowby gas passage into the intake manifold and burned in the cylinders, producing abnormal noise and white smoke. In the worst case, engine speed may surge uncontrollably, and the engine may stall and be unable to restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, perform the following actions. Replace the engine control computer with a corrected part programmed to switch to manual regeneration mode during low-speed operation and similar conditions. Add inspection items covering repeated low-speed driving and frequent engine stops to the owner's manual and maintenance booklet, and replace the caution label affixed to the top of the switch box to the right of the driver's seat. Add handling precautions for the regeneration-controlled DPF to the owner's manual and distribute a supplementary instruction sheet. Because supply of the corrected parts will take time, as an interim measure, notify owners by direct mail or equivalent means to inspect the engine oil level; vehicles where the oil level has reached or exceeded the replacement threshold must have their engine oil changed immediately.

状況
再生制御式ＤＰＦ（ディーゼル微粒子除去装置）を装着した車両において、低速走行、頻繁なエンジン停止等のエンジンに軽負荷な状況で使用を続けた場合、ＤＰＦの自動再生（捕集した微粒子の燃焼除去）を長時間行う制御であるため、再生するためにエンジン内に噴射する軽油が想定以上にエンジンオイルに混入する。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、軽油の混入したオイルがブローバイガスの通路を経由して吸気管に吸入されシリンダー内で燃焼するため、異音、白煙が発生し、最悪の場合、エンジン回転の上昇、エンジン停止及び再始動不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、以下の対応を実施する。 ・エンジン制御コンピュータを低速走行時等には手動再生に移行する制御に変更した対策品と交換する。 ・低速走行、頻繁なエンジン停止等を繰り返す場合の点検項目について、取扱説明書及びメンテナンスノートに追記するとともに、運転席右側スイッチボックス上面に貼付しているコーションラベルを変更する。また、再生制御式ＤＰＦの取扱い上の注意事項について、取扱説明書に追記するとともに、簡易説明書を配布する。 なお、対策品の全数供給に時間を要するため、暫定措置として、使用者にダイレクトメール等でエンジンオイル量の点検を啓発し、交換基準レベル以上になっているものはエンジンオイルの交換を実施する。
