Defect
On large route buses, the control software in the engine control unit and the exhaust aftertreatment control unit is incorrectly programmed, causing the urea solution injection volume to be insufficient. As a result, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in the exhaust gas may exceed the regulatory limit.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control unit and the exhaust aftertreatment control unit with the corrected/updated software.
