Defect
The waterproofing design of the heater heat exchanger housing is inadequate, allowing moisture containing road salt to intrude and cause an electrical leak at the blower motor wiring harness connector. Continued use allows the connector to overheat and, in the worst case, may cause the harness connector to catch fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, apply additional sealant to the heater heat exchanger housing and replace the blower motor harness connector and the housing drain port with corrected parts. Inspect the blower motor and replace it with a new unit if rust is found. As an interim measure pending availability of corrected parts, cut away the harness connector and directly splice the harness wires.

状況
暖房用熱交換器の格納箱の防水構造が不適切なため、融雪剤を含んだ水分が侵入し、熱交換器の送風用モータのハーネスコネクタ部で漏電を起こす場合がある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、当該コネクタ部が発熱し、最悪の場合、ハーネスコネクタ部が発火するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、暖房用熱交換器の格納箱にシール剤を追加するとともに、送風用モータのハーネスコネクタ部および格納箱の排水口を対策品と交換する。また、送風用モータを点検し、錆びている場合は新品と交換する。なお、対策品の供給に時間を要することから、暫定措置として、ハーネスコネクタ部を切り取り、ハーネスを直結する。
