Defect
In the engine retarder (compression-release brake), the operating range of the exhaust valve may become excessive, causing the exhaust valve and piston to contact each other. This interference produces abnormal noise or abnormal vibration from the engine. If use continues, the exhaust valve may fracture and, in the worst case, the engine may stall and be unable to restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the hydraulic circuit components of the engine retarder (compression-release brake) — specifically the control valve, slave piston outer, and slave piston spring — with corrected parts.

状況
エンジンリターダ(圧縮開放ブレーキ)において、エキゾーストバルブの作動範囲が過大となることがあるため、当該バルブとピストンが干渉し、原動機の異音または異常振動が発生することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、エキゾーストバルブが破損して、最悪の場合、原動機が停止し、再始動できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エンジンリターダ(圧縮開放ブレーキ)の油圧回路の構成部品(コントロールバルブ・スレーブピストンアウタ及びスレーブピストンスプリング)を対策品に交換する。
