Defect

The material and mounting geometry of the intercooler air inlet are inadequate. Heat from the engine compartment causes the mounting section to deteriorate over time, reducing its structural strength. Repeated thermal expansion and contraction in high-temperature environments causes cracks to develop at the mounting section. In the worst case, the air inlet may detach while the vehicle is in motion and create a hazard to other traffic.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the intercooler air inlet with a corrected part.
