Filing in context
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Other (Suspension/Shock Absorber) as the affected component. This filing is one of 70 Mitsubishi notifications from 2006 in this archive. For scale, 4,495 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles.
Defect
During the stabilizer link installation process, inadequate work instructions resulted in insufficient torque being applied to the mounting nuts on some vehicles. Continued use may cause the nut to fall off and the link to separate, interfering with the brake hose. In the worst case, the brake hose may be perforated, allowing brake fluid to leak and reducing braking force.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, retighten the affected nut to the specified torque. Additionally, inspect the brake hose, stabilizer link, and mounting hardware, and replace with new parts if damage is found.
