Defect
The cable end at the center brake side of the parking brake cable — the fitting that connects and secures the cable tip to the center brake lever — has an improper shape that may allow it to seat at an angle in the lever groove. Continued use in this condition causes the cable tip to bend and fatigue, and in the worst case, the cable may fracture, resulting in loss of braking force when the vehicle is parked. Note: This recall supplements notification no. 1258, dated October 7, 2004, due to an error in the original vehicle selection; additional vehicles are now included.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the center brake side cable end of the parking brake cable. If the cable is damaged, replace it with a corrected part featuring a revised tip geometry. If no damage is found, install an additional retainer on the cable tip.

状況
駐車ブレーキケーブルのセンターブレーキ側ケーブルエンド（センターブレーキレバーとの接続固定用ケーブル先端部の金具）の形状が不適切なため、ケーブルエンドがレバーの溝に斜めに嵌まるおそれがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用するとケーブル先端が屈曲、疲労切損し、最悪の場合、駐車時に制動力が確保できなくなるおそれがある。 本件は、平成１６年１０月７日付「届出番号１２５８」にてリコール届出を行ったものですが、対象車両の選定に一部誤りがあったため、対象車両を追加し、新たに届出するものです。
改善措置
全車両、駐車ブレーキケーブルのセンターブレーキ側先端部を点検し、ケーブルに損傷のある場合は、先端形状を変更した対策品と交換する。損傷のない場合はケーブル先端部にリテーナを追加装着する。
