Defect
On solid-axle (beam axle) vehicles, the bracket that secures the transmission shift cable is incorrectly shaped, causing the cable to contact the steering gearbox and develop a localized bend. Continued operation in this condition fatigues and fractures the inner wire of the cable, causing loss of shift operation. Note: This filing supplements Notification No. 1199, dated August 4, 2004. The corrective action applied to solid-axle vehicles under that recall was determined to be insufficient; this filing adds the affected vehicles and implements a revised market action.
Corrective action
(1) On all vehicles, replace the shift cable mounting bracket and the shift cable with corrected parts. (2) On all vehicles, replace the mounting bracket with a corrected part. Inspect the clearance between the shift cable and the steering gearbox; if no clearance exists or contact marks are found, also replace the shift cable with a corrected part.

状況
車軸懸架の車両においてトランスミッション変速用ケーブルを固定する金具の形状が不適切なため、当該ケーブルがパワーステアリングギヤボックスに干渉し、局部的に屈曲しているものがある。 そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当該ケーブル内部のワイヤが疲労折損し、変速操作が出来なくなるおそれがある。 備考）本件は、平成１６年８月４日付、届出番号「１１９９」にてリコール届出を行った車両の内、車軸懸架車に対する対策内容が不十分であることが判明したため、対象車両を追加して、あらためて市場措置を実施するものです。
改善措置
①全車両、当該固定金具と変速用ケーブルを対策品と交換する。 ②全車両、当該固定金具を対策品と交換する。なお、変速用ケーブルとパワーステアリングギヤボックスとの隙間の有無を点検し、隙間がない又は干渉痕がある場合は、変速用ケーブルを対策品と交換する。
