Defect

On vehicles equipped with a mechanical automatic transmission, the bracket securing the ice-prevention cover over the clutch stroke sensor was manufactured with insufficient strength and improperly assembled. Vehicle vibration during operation may cause the bracket to fracture, allowing ice to form on the sensor. Continued use can damage the stroke sensor, preventing clutch engagement and rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the bracket with the corrected part.
