Defect
On small buses with a front solid-axle configuration, the dust boot seal on the tie-rod end ball joint is improperly designed, allowing mud and water to enter the joint. This causes wear of the resin bearing and develops play in the joint. Continued use increases that play and, in the worst case, the ball joint separates from the tie rod, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
Replace the tie-rod end assembly with the corrected part. Additionally, expand and publicize the inspection and maintenance procedures for this area to alert owners to include it in periodic inspections.

状況
前軸車軸方式の小型バスのタイロッドエンドのボールジョイントにおいて、ダストブーツのシール構造が不適切なため、当該ジョイントへ泥水等が浸入し、樹脂ベアリングが摩耗してガタが発生することがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けるとガタが増大し、最悪の場合、ボールジョイントがタイロッドから外れ走行不能になるおそれがある。 本件は、平成16年10月27日付「届出番号1286」にてリコール届出を行ったものですが、対象車の選定に集計漏れがあったため、対象車を追加し、新たに届出するものです。
改善措置
当該タイロッドエンド一式を対策品と交換する。 また、当該部位の点検整備内容を充実させ周知することにより、定期点検へのユーザの注意を喚起する。
