Defect
Two separate defects affect the electronic control unit (ECU) of the high-intensity discharge low-beam headlights. First, an incorrect software program in the ECU causes it to misidentify the normal voltage drop immediately after cold-weather startup as a short circuit in the headlight circuit. Second, defective transformer components in the ECU's internal inverter circuit may develop a short circuit, damaging the coil and causing the ECU to cut power supply. Either condition may result in the low-beam headlights failing to illuminate. Note: Vehicles already in service that are equipped with the same headlight unit will receive the same corrective action.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the ECU serial number. If the affected ECU is installed, replace it with the corrected part.

状況
放電式すれ違い用前照灯の電子制御ユニット（ＥＣＵ）内部のプログラムが不適切なため、低温時に点灯直後の電圧低下を前照灯回路のショートと誤判定するものがある、また、当該ＥＣＵ内部のインバータ回路のトランスに不良品が混入したため、ショートが発生し、コイルが損傷してＥＣＵが電力供給を停止するものがある。 そのため、すれ違い用前照灯が不灯となるおそれがある。 備考）本届出と同一の前照灯を使用過程車で装着した車両についても、同様の対策をおこなう。
改善措置
全車両、当該ＥＣＵの製造番号を点検し、対象となるＥＣＵが装着されているものは、対策品と交換する。
