This filing is one of 150 Mitsubishi notifications from 2004 in this archive. Defect
The accelerator wire bracket, a component of the throttle body, has insufficient strength. Continuous engine operation at certain high speeds generates excessive stress in the bracket through resonance, causing a crack. In the worst case, the bracket fractures, losing its grip on the accelerator cable and making throttle operation impossible.
Corrective action
Inspect the throttle body on all vehicles. Where an uncorrected part is fitted, replace the complete throttle body assembly with the corrected/revised part.
