Defect
Engine heat raises the temperature in the vicinity of the starter motor, and the fixed contacts of the starter magnetic switch have an incorrect shape. Together, these conditions accelerate contact wear through repeated start operations. As the contacts wear, a step forms that catches the movable contact and applies excessive force to the insulating bush, causing the bush to break and the circuit to short. The starter motor then continues to run and overheats, catching fire, and in the worst case the fire spreads throughout the engine compartment.
Corrective action
Replace the starter motor magnetic switch on all vehicles with a corrected part.

状況
原動機の始動装置において、原動機の熱によりスタータモータ付近の温度が高くなるこ とと、始動用電磁スイッチの固定接点の形状が不適切なため、始動操作の繰り返しにより 当該接点の摩耗が早まり、摩耗による接点の段差に可動接点が引っかかって絶縁用ブッシ ュに過大な力がかかり、当該ブッシュが破損して回路が短絡し、スタータモータが廻り続 けて過熱、発火し、最悪の場合、原動機室内に延焼して火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、スタータモータの始動用電磁スイッチを対策品に交換する。
