Defect
In the engine, an incompatible combination of engine and spark plug gaskets allows thermal loading at high engine speeds to deform the gasket and reduce clamping force. Vibration at high speed then causes the spark plug to loosen, generating abnormal noise and damaging the spark plug thread. Misfires occur and the engine runs poorly, illuminating the engine control system warning light. In the worst case, combustion gas blowby melts and short-circuits the ignition coil, causing the ignition system fuse to blow, stopping the engine and preventing restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the spark plugs with units fitted with corrected gaskets, and inspect the spark plug threads and ignition coils. Replace any damaged items with a new cylinder head and ignition coil as required. Additionally, apply a label to the owner's manual updating the spark plug part number to the corrected part number.

状況
原動機において、原動機と点火プラグのガスケットとの組み合わせが不適切なため､高 回転時の熱負荷により当該ガスケットが変形して締め付け力が低下するものがあり、高回 転時の振動で点火プラグが弛み異音が発生し、点火プラグ取付ネジ部が損傷するとともに 失火して原動機が不調となり、原動機制御システム警告灯が点灯し、最悪の場合、吹き抜 けた燃焼ガスで点火コイルが溶損して短絡することにより点火系ヒューズが溶断し、原動 機が停止して再始動できないおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、対策品のガスケットを取り付けた点火プラグに交換するとともに点火プラグ取 付けネジ部及びイグニッションコイルを点検し、損傷のあるものは新品のシリンダヘッド 及びイグニッションコイルと交換する。 なお、あわせて取扱説明書に記載の点火プラグの品番に対策品の品番を記載したシール を貼付して変更する。
