In the electrical system of diesel-electric hybrid vehicles, the contact between the battery cable connector terminals is insufficient on some vehicles. Continued use in this condition causes the connector terminals to generate heat. In the worst case, the plastic connector case may melt and the engine may become unable to start.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the affected battery cable with the corrected part. Additionally, update the owner's manual and technical service manual to reflect the maintenance procedures applicable to the corrected part.
