Defect

During the manufacturing process, a partial bolt fragment used only during assembly of the steering lock mechanism—and intended to be cut off and discarded after fastening—may have been inadvertently left inside the universal joint section of the steering column. Continued use may cause steering effort to increase. In the worst case, the driver may lose steering control.

Corrective action

Inspect all vehicles. On any vehicle found to contain a bolt fragment, replace the affected component with a non-defective unit.

状況

かじ取装置において、ステアリングコラムの自在継手部に、製造工程に於いてステアリン グロック機構取付ボルトの一部(ボルト締結時のみに使用し、締結後は切断して破棄する もの。)が誤って混入した可能性があり、このままの状態で使用を続けるとハンドル操作 が重くなることがあり、最悪の場合、ハンドル操作ができなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両点検し、ボルトの一部が混入しているものは良品と交換する。
